Hematuria complicated by urinary retention revealing post-radiotherapy gangrenous cystitis with peritoneal involvement: an exceptional case in current urological practice

Abstract Gangrenous cystitis is a pathology that rarely encountered in current urological practice. It due to necrosis of the bladder wall, which may be superficial or involve entire wall. Its exact pathogenesis unknown, but several factors make its diagnosis based on cystoscopy imaging. surgical treatment depends operative finding. In this report, authors report case gangrenous 73-year-old patient with history prostatectomy and radiotherapy whose main manifestation was urinary retention. The made by computed tomography scan. Surgical exploration confirmed diagnosis, thus imposing partial cystectomy an omentum base plasty. Despite good postoperative clinical biological evolution, died intensive care unit following respiratory distress ventricular tachycardia. This reminds once again high mortality associated pathology.
